This primitive, lo-fi combo is made up of 3 generations of native Angelinos steeped in the city’s culture, angst, and excess. Hermann Senac, the group’s elder statesmen, is L.A. punk rock royalty, having co-founded cow-punk innovators Blood on the Saddle. Hermann’s primitive pounding can also be heard on records by Crowbar Salvation/Marty Nation & Ace Farren Ford (Child Molesters), Loafin’ Hyenas (w/Rob Ritter & Tex Edwards, Click Morte) & more. 

Edgar Rodriguez, the fucked up fuzz guitarist, spent his most recent years laying down bass with The Rippers. The Rippers were a short lived Los Angeles band that appeared on the L.A. Shakedown compilation, but served to unite Edgar and Leon as a strong songwriting duo.
Leon “Catfish” Zalez, the youngest member of the Guilty Hearts, also did time in The Rippers. He brings to the table his wild guitar, his tortured words and his screaming harp.

With other wurds.. the Guilty Hearts from the Hispanic quarter of LA brings you the freshest wind in Hot spicy Tacco Rock’n’roll and Blues Trash for decades.. in the Spirit of the GUN CLUB the’ll kick  your head to moon and back

BLODDY MARRY  (ES)

Un trío de veteranos de Los Angeles que se hacen llamar los Corazones Culpables y que proceden de bandas con algo de nombre a este lado del charco, como pueden ser los Blood On The Saddle o Loafin´ Hyenas,  por donde paso el batería de este trío Hermann Senac,  los otro dos tipos que se dedican a saturar tu cabeza de fuzz guitar son, por un lado Edgar Rodríguez y el bocazas de Leon “Catfish” Zelez el componente mas joven del trío ambos militaron en la banda de LA,  The Rippers (nada que ver con los Italianos o la banda estatal que funciona con el mismo nombre). Con tal currículo forman Guilty Hearts  y los tres fichajes se muestran totalmente poseídos por el espíritu atormentado de Jeffrey Lee Pierce  máxima cabeza del club del revolver.

Con una frase tan lapidaria para los amantes de la música como la que está escrita en su disco de debut  “La Música puede ser tu amigo mas autentico……, tu amante despreciada…,  quien cure tus heridas…, El fantasma en tu habitación”. Ante tal pensamiento y la ponzoña sónica con que da comienzo este lp con el tema  “Too Far Down” en donde el rock and roll y el blues se dan la mano de manera poco ortodoxa y hacen un pacto a lo largo de 13 disparos  a base de rock, blues, punk y garaje con barbaridades como “Big Mouth Mickey” en donde un poseído voceador se desgañita y la banda no da un ápice de cuartelillo mostrándose  con ganas de llenarte la cabeza de sonidos sin adulterar, chaval esto es rock and roll sin mas, nada de alardes de virtuosismo de ningún tipo, one, two, three, y disparos sonoros desde el garaje directos a tu cabeza,”Him or Me” ó “Turn It Off” esta ultima con un órgano que raya la locura y en donde recuperan lo mejor de las bandas de los sesenta que se mantuvieron al margen de la comercialidad y que hacían  otro tipo de rock and roll , “Satisfied”  tan amenazante como ver acercase a toda pastilla una locomotora sin control hacia tu coche, parado en medio de la vías. “Ghost in my Room” a ritmo atormentado su emanando vapores pantanosos, un machacón “Move” con punteos de guitarras  como torbellinos, el frenético beat de “Pine Box Ritual”,  las afiladas y sexuales guitarras de “Over You”, y cerrando no podía ser otra que la versión del “Jack On Fire”, que incluyeron en el cd promocional de este mismo sello de los malogrados y ahora recuperados Gun Club. Otro disco más que interesante y recomendado de la etiqueta suiza Voodoo Rhythm, ¿Cuántos van?

The Guilty Heart aus dem sonnigen Cali/LA auf Voodoo Rhythm Records gibt es heute zum Abendessen. Ja ich weiss ihr seit wie immer ganz gespannt auf meine Worte, also hau ich mal ordentlich in die Tasten und geb alles zum Besten, The Guilty Heart ist eine absolute Lo-Fi Combo, die Punkinvasion ,chicano-RocknRoll nett beschrieben mit krachigem Blues Trash. Sehr interessante Band die alles aus sich rausholt was nur geht. Garage-RocknRoll Blues Punk von Mexican-Americans, da könnt ihr euch ungefähr vorstellen was da läuft. Eine ordentliche Portion Krach, Fun am Geschehen, Voodoo Rhythm haben da echt eine coole Band am Start, Genies am Werk, 13 coole Songs alle Eigenproduktion bis auf "Jack on Fire". Its hot and spicy, probierts mal aus...

SLEAZEGRINDER  (USA)

Hispaniola Hellbilly from Blood On The Saddle main rein-wrangler Hermann Senac, this is in a fine filly bursting out of a suitable stable being on the Voodoo Rhythm label. Far more full on and, just to descend into the cliché canyon for a tic, far more muthafuckin' than BOTS splintered crazy horse charging cowpunk. Delicious spit-roasting guitars churn relentlessly like a chapter of razorbacks rampaging around like four legged locusts with the faces of The Ramones racing to the same trucker feast that John Schooley hangs out at with The Makers ('Satisfied', 'Turn It Off'). With the sonic boom bass that really will kill ya mister, it has the comet surfing crush-cruise stoner blues stew of Zen Guerilla wired to the driller killers, erm, drill, coupled with the louche enigmatic-ness, other-worldly urgency of the Gun Club (whos 'Cape Fear' creepy crawl 'Jack On Fire' they serve up as a sacrificial offering) and pure eyed belief in Rock'n'Roll's pimple popping, pineal pulsing, primal pant shredding, but more importantly portentous, POWER. A super saturated sound, sulkilysucking aaaalllll the sweet scum from the sidewalk, living on insects swatted off striplights, singing through the downtown sweltering smog stain, this is  one of THE top releases of the year, if not recent years, and I hereby award it 7 out of all the 7 slitherin' and salivatin' slezzzieSt* sins.

Primitive lo-fi rock & roll garage-punk blues combo from the Hispanic Quarter of L.A., USA. This release simply is another genre giant.

THE GUILTY HEARTS ist eine Rock’n’Roll Punk Garage Blues-Truppe aus dem hispanic quarter von Los Angeles. Ihr Schlagzeuger spielte in den 80ern bei BLOOD ON THE SADDLE, und daran erinnert ihr würziger Trash Rock Punk ein bisschen. Und auch die GUN CLUB-Coverversion darf als Hinweis verstanden werden, wie auch das Labelinfo meint: „If you go for GUN CLUB but you always thought it’s too much heroine in the band and not enough beer and tequila then you can stick to the GUILTY HEARTS, they are the GUN CLUB without the heroine groove...“

LOW CUT (DK)

Wow! And I have to repeat: Wow! I had only heard about this LA band which consists of Hermann Senac on drums (founding member of Blood on the Saddle) and two guitar players with a past in The Rippers. But I was not prepared for this sonic onslaught of a debut album. In the fine tradition of The Oblivians, The Dirtbombs and early Gun Club The Guilty Hearts blast out primitive blues-garage-punk-rock&roll of the highest order and with stunning intensity. Some people complain about the lack of cool new bands in these shallow times….well, look no further!! The Guilty Hearts are here to tell you otherwise
