As Young 13 year old Beat-Man (born. Beat Zeller) he started experimenting with his 4 Track machine, first under the Name Taeb Zerfall (1985) , then in 1992 after a Longer US Trip and inspired by Mexican Wretling in Los Angeles under the Name Lightning Beat-Man, back then the main theme was: “I FIGHT ON STAGE AGAINST ME AND MY GUITAR AND BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF IT AND WIN EVERY NIGHT” the Rawness and Directness of the Recordings are Unbeatable for the Time it came out, it Was the time when Techno and DJ’s totally took over everything and there was absolutely no Space for Trash at all.. when the Record came out it didn’t sell lot and the critics where very bad in the beginning also for the Live shows (the theme of the live shows where, play as Bad ,Fucked Up and Drunk as possible) but after a while came Touring in Europe and Shows together with the Ramones, Dick Dale , Prince, Fireworks Dead Moon and many more (almost 250 shows a year) and his Own Little Show on VIVA and MTV where he travels Around the US with a Wrestling Mask and interviewing People and Visiting Graveyards of Dead Rock’n’roll Artists, and the 2nd Album (Apartment Wrestling Rock’n’Roll- voodoo rhythm) who came on the Marked like a Atomic Explosion and as well made this 1st Album as a Collectors item, so we thought to give it to the People again together with 3 Outstanding Noisy Trashed out Bonus Tracks, and yea the Whole Album and Recordings are as Fresh as they would be made today.. the only problem is a Ground Noise that the Tascam Tape Deck had while recording.. but that’s how it is if you Record in a LOW BUDGET WAY

Als Junger Beat-Man (geb. Beat Zeller) mit 13 Jahren hat er angefangen Aufnahmen zu machen auf seinem 4 Track Recorder zuerst unter dem Nahmen Taeb Zerfall (Hey Gal;  it’s never too late) dann 1992 inspiriert durch Mexikanisches Wrestling in Los Angeles unter seinem Pseudonym Lightning Beat-Man (alle Anderen Songs) die Idee war Damals  „ICH WRESTLE AUF DER BÜHNE GEGEN MICH UND MEINE GITARRE UND GEWINNE IMMER“ die Brachialität Direktheit dieser Aufnahmen ist kaum zu überbieten und hat mit der Damaligen zeit wo Techno und DJ’s die Grossen Überflieger waren nichts aber auch gar nichts am Hut, so wurde diese Platte und die Live Shows am Anfang Gnadenlos Zerrissen, bis dann Größere Touren und Shows ua mit den Ramones, Dick Dale , Prince, Fireworks Dead Moon etc folgten und vor allem die 2te Platte (Apartment Wrestling Rock’n’roll – voodoo rhythm) und seine Eigene Show auf VIVA und MTV hatte wo er durch Amerika Reiste und Leute Interviewte in Seiner Wrestling Maske oder in Bern das Apartment Wrestling von Türe zu Türe brachte, Schlug das ganze dann ein wie eine Bombe, diese aufnahmen sind damals als 10“ erschienen und sie wider veröffentlicht worden bis zum heutigen tage wo sie jetzt als 12“ und CD erhältlich ist und mit 3 Bonus Tracks angereichert wurde, die Aufnahmen strotzen immer noch von Einer Frischheit und Crazyness das es ein wahrer spass ist

MOTORAVER (D)

Selbst 14 Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung ist des Beat-Mans Erstling "Wrestling Rock´n´Roll" immer noch wild und gefährlich und ein unglaublich direkter Schlag in die Fresse der modernen Zivilisation. 1994 als 10" herausgekommen blieb die Platte wenigen Auserwählten vorbehalten und ist für den Normalsterblichen mittlerweile nicht mehr bezahlbar oder besser gesagt eh nicht mehr zu bekommen. Der König hat nun aber ein Einsehen mit seiner Gefolgschaft und veröffentlicht die Scheibe jetzt als 12" und das erste mal als CD und macht damit den musikalischen Grundstein für die "Weltherrschaft" des --->

Beat-Man für alle zugänglich. Ergänzt werden die 16 Originalsongs mit 3 Bonustracks, die live mitgeschnitten wurden und eindrucksvoll die Direktheit der One Man Band dokumentieren. Das Bekenntnis zum Primitiven und die vollkommene Überdrehung des Garage-Rock schlug Anfang der 90er hohe Wellen. Das Pendel schlug zwischen totaler Ablehnung und absoluter Hingabe aus - dazwischen gibt es nichts. Wer den Beat-Man damals als Wrestler mit seiner Akustikgitarre erleben konnte, der wird noch seinen Enkeln davon erzählen. Mit dem vertonten Bekenntnis zum Trash führte der Mann aus der Schweiz die Welt heraus aus Grunge und Techno und seine Jünger ins Licht. Und mit solchen All-Time-Favourites wie "I´m Gonna Kill You Tonight" oder "I Wanna Be Your Pussycat" hat er sich sowieso in unser Gehirn gefräst. Der König ist tot, hoch lebe der Reverend!

 

 

 

PSYCHADELICFOLK (NL)

In the light of Reverend Beat-Man’s second vision with the Lightning Beat-Man I couldn’t help of thinking back to the great and funny movie of “Nacho Libre” (2006)*, about a Mexican father who always dreamed of becomming, and then really becomes a wrestler, and is accepted because the business wants a loser. Lightning Beat-Man is also a good combination of fun and seriousness, based upon raw and primitive rock’n roll with some variety of ideas with each song. Most tracks are sung and screamed with deformed/speakers/telephone voice, once with a funny helium telephone voice (“Shake it baby”), then is making funny sounds (“I wane be your pussycat” & “Wild baby wow”), is teasing seductive primitive in nature, with some over the top distorted electric guitars (“take it off”), or with hard rocking fuzz guitars (“baby what’s going on”) or almost psychedelic (“hell yeah!”) –still rock’n roll-, occasionally played a bit faster (“hi ho baby”) or like raw acoustic home recording (the bonus track “I love you”). This makes fun in every sense of rock’n roll destined to like it.

KINKATS (D)

Beat-Man hat schon früh begonnen, Musik zu machen und selbst aufzunehmen. Alles alleine. Inspiriert durch mexikanisches Wrestling trat er auf der Bühne frei nach dem Motto „Ich wrestle auf der Bühne gegen mich und meine Gitarre und gewinne immer“ auf. Eine konsequente Einstellung! Wie der Beat-Man es geschafft hat, ständig zu gewinnen: keine Ahnung. Schon dafür sollte man ihm kräftig die Hand schütteln.

Der Beat-Man macht sicher keine Schubladen-Musik. Der Einfachheit halber könnte man sie als brachialen, krachigen Trash mit Rockabilly, Rhythm’n’Blues, Country, Folk, Blues und – ja, ganz viel Trash bezeichnen. Das Ganze wurde auf einem 4-Track-Recorder aufgenommen, damit es schön weh tut. Das ist independent-Independent oder auch nicht. Nichts für weichgespülte Ohren und Hirne jedenfalls.

„Wrestling Rock’n’Roll“ ist ein Re-Release des Debüts von 1994 (incl. drei Bonustracks), für das die Welt damals wohl noch nicht reif war. Wer weiß ob sie es heute ist. Verdient hätte sie es auf jeden Fall.
