In his young years started lissening to hank williamy, blind lemon jefferson then started a view years later th: John Schooley and His One Man Band”, he rigged up a kick drum and hi-hat and began performing at “house frolics” and on the sidewalk in front of local record store… but resonance where not that big… so went back home and called up some friends and started with the Band The Revelators… doing several shows and one time the Oblivians came to town and took’m to Europe for touring and signing up with Crypt records, then crypt records disappeared and the Revelators split up..it was the time to start up with a new band the HARD FEELINGS… may you already saw those guys playing around the globe ??? Tycker du att The White Stripes är för många eller att de blivit för kommersiella med senaste skivan "Elephant"?
I så fall behöver du inte leta efter substitut längre. John Schooley and His One Man Band är här för att rädda din dag.
John Schooley från Austin (Texas) har tidigare spelat i Revelators och han spelar fortfarande i The Hard Feelings. "Drive You Faster" är den andra singeln han ger ut med sitt enmansband och han är just nu i full färd med att spela in sitt första album på egen hand.
Det handlar om strippad och skitig rockblues som placerar sig någonstans i närheten av redan nämnda White Stripes och R.L. Burnside (med vilken Schooley turnerat). Ja, med den skillnaden att Schooley spelar alla instrument själv. Samtidigt. Det svänger gott dessutom.
Den feta sjutumsvinylen innehåller fyra spår. Två egenkomponerade (först på vardera sidan) och två covers (följaktligen sist på respektive sida). Det är inte särskilt avancerad musik. Allt framfört på elektrifierad gitarr, virvel- och bastrumma, munspel, hi-hat och tvättbräda. Det låter kanske spartanskt, men funkar oväntat bra.
Allra bäst gillar jag titelspåret "Drive You Faster" och b-sidans cover "I Wish You Would". I de båda lyckas enmansbandet levererar både rått groove och melodi. De andra två låtarna, "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" och "Factory Dog", lever på ett mer primitivt bluesgroove där melodierna lämnas vid sidan - inte riktigt min påse.

JOHN SCHOOLEY der bei der CRYPT Band REVELATORS aktiv war und auch der Frontmann der HARD FEELINGS ist, liefert als ONE MAN BAND nun schon die dritte 7" ab. "Drive You Faster" und "Factory Dog" sind 2 coole eigene Stücke, hinzu kommt mit "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" und "I Wish You Would" 2 Traditionals die er auch mit Mundharmonika, primitivem Schlagzeug, Waschbrett und Rasseln arrangiert hat und ihnen somit seinen eigenen Blues Trash Gütesiegel aufdrückt. Schönes Artwork im Stil alter Verpackungen auf fester Papphülle, auf der Rückseite gibt es außerdem ausführliche Linernotes zur bisherigen Karriere des Blues Punk Profis.
