DM Bob the Drummer boyfriend of Silky is a Legend himself played in several other bands the most famous was DM Bob and the Deficits (Crypt,SFTRI) and is a Low Brow Painter...he's roots are in Louisiana where he grow up, his present to Hamburg was the Swamp Blues what he had and what the Watzloves try to play now for over 10 jears
Jakobus the mulit-instrumentalist is a he's natural Crazy and a painter as well makes crazy shit and have exhibitions all over Europe, and plaing besides the Watzloves in DIE STERNE a Hamburg Based band that is Pretty famous in the German speaking area of Europe
Together the Watzloves is as well a low Brow Painting, the Story's and lyrics what Silke sings is far beyond normal girly stuff it's mad sad and angry and funny DM Bob plays the Laziest and most laid back drums the true swamp Blues drum.. jakobus switching in one song from trombone over to the slide and guitar and brings the craziness in the band
This is the 3rd album by the Watzloves 13 songs and a couple of duets from Silky and Bob, "you made me what I am today" is a Slow Country burner as well the opener and nervous stomper "whay don't you ask me", Sugar coated love is Party PURE as well the fantastic You're on my mind.....all in all the Watzloves deffenetly have found their own sound trou the years and there is none who does something similar if so they they are a copy of the Watzloves |

1998 von Akkordeonistin und Sängerin SILKY ursprünglich als Duo gegründet, ist "Catch Me A Possum" nach "Rockin' Country Gumbo" mittlerweile das zweite Album in Triobesetzung mit DM BOB am Schlagzeug und Waschbrett, sowie JAKOBUS an der Pedalsteel-Gitarre bzw. Posaune. Sozusagen traditionell instrumentiert, spielen die WATZLOVES Cajun Musik mit Zydeco und Tex-Mex Einflüssen, dessen erdige Produktion uns durch die Sümpfe Luisianas begleitet. SILKY's feuriges Akkordeonspiel lädt, abseits von deutscher Bierzeltkultur, fast durchweg zum ausgelassenen Feiern ein, und klingt teilweise ähnlich subversiv wie gegrillte Beutelratte, der es in "Catch Me A Possum" an den Kragen geht. THe Watzloves, na vielen Dank, eine mal richtig schön gelungene Scheibe. Accordeon Ole, ja ihr hört richtig, vor 10 Jahren noch fast undenkbar, eine RocknRoll Band mit feinen Rhythmen. Das Girl am Mikrofon ist auch mal gelungen, sie hat eine unglaublich coole Stimme. Hier erfahren wir was ueber die Hamburg / Louisiana Connection. Eine wirklich kreative Band, Blues Drum, ganz entspannt und keine typischen Girlie-Texte, da geht noch was liebe Leute. Dies ist das 3. Album der Watzloves, 13 Songs die einfach super sind, lasst euch ueberraschen. Yeah Yeah Yeah...

Escuchando discos como este, queda claro que al capo de este sello, se la suda lo que digan o piensen los demás. Hay que tener un par de pelotas, para arriesgarse con discos como este, un disco en donde las raíces no evolucionan y se siguen alimentando de clasicismo, además de dar su particular visión al sonido de los pantanos de Lousiana, al cajun y al zydeco. El trío de Alemania y su tercer álbum lp para el Ritmo de Voodoo se basan de nuevo en la voz de Silky y su inseparable acordeón y dando el "personal" sonido de la banda. La mujer con el infierno en la voz se hace acompañar de Dm Bob a la batería, guitarra, saxofón y voces y Jacobus dándole al trombón y al slide guitar y en este "Catch Me A Possum" los temas se suceden y el rock and roll esta muy presente en forma muy primaria buscando el eslabón que lo unía con el folk de esa zona (Lousiana) en donde la música tradicional tiene una pegada importante. El caso es que si dejas de lado los prejuicios y te dedicas a escuchar, te aseguro que disfrutaras de temas como "Girl Called Trouble", "You´re on my Mind" o la increíble "What A Fool I Was" con una Silky casi susurrando y cantando de manera adictiva o cuando les da por sacrilizar el blues en temas como "Sugar Coated Love", o montar la fiesta con temas como "Blue Bird" para desplazarte de lugar mentalmente a un lugar en donde, no hay luces, carreteras ni preocupaciones. Silky Watzlove hat eine unglaubliche Stimme und singt lustige Dinge, aus dem Opossum das gefangen werden soll zaubert sie ein leckeres Mahl. An der Slide-Gitarre befindet sich ein Sterne Mitglied. So kann man bei manchen Lieder wirklich glauben man wäre in einer texanischen Kneipe gelandet so authentisch klingt der Western Sound des Trios. Später geht es dann auch etwas rockiger zu. So oder so ist hier ein charmantes Album geschrieben worden das seinesgleichen noch sucht, zumindest in Deutschland im Jahr 2007. (Alva)

Er is nogal een behoorlijk verschil tussen The Watzloves en het grootste deel van hun labelmaatjes van Voodoo Rhythm. Neem bijvoorbeeld alleen al de Dead Brothers. Die heten natuurlijk niet voor niets zo. Op hun platen heerst een opperbeste grafstemming. Bij de The Watzloves hoef je daar niet bang voor te zijn. Deze Zwitserse band levert met hun derde cd Catch Me A Possum namelijk een soort van buurthuisvariant op een texmex/country band. Het is allemaal nogal gammel namelijk wat Silky Watzlove, DM Bob en Jacobus je voorschotelen. Silky is namelijk niet bepaald de beste zangeres, maar in real life een bad ass truckdriver, dus dat verklaart veel. Maar op de een of andere manier werkt het wel aanstekelijk waarop zij quasi nonchalant hun hoempapa-ende liedjes lardeert met accordeon. DM Bob zingt mee en speelt wasbord en gitaar. Je zou hem overigens wel kunnen kennen. Hij is een Voodoo Rhythm-zwerfkat en bracht al eens een cd uit met Jem Finer die onze eigen DM de wenkbrauwen deed fronsen. Daar krijg bij The Watzloves geen kans voor. Ze hebben op mij een beetje hetzelfde effect als Hayseed Dixie: het is goed voor je lachspieren. Alleen zijn die mannen uit Deerlick Holler wel een flink aantal tandjes strakker dan deze Zwitsers. Het zal wel het verschil tussen oud (Appalachen) en nieuw (Alpen) gebergte zijn.
